What is double primer and why is everyone talking about it on TikTok?

A makeup primer, also known as a primer, is a cream-textured product that is applied to the face just before layering makeup. Its function is to prepare the skin and achieve a shapeless appearance, thus helping to hide imperfections and also extending the duration of the makeup base. Not using it has almost become for some a mistake that should not be made when applying makeup.

Usually, its use consisted simply of adding a thin layer with the skin already prepared, that is, adequately hydrated and with the sunscreen applied. However, a new technique has gone viral that promises to achieve a perfect skin effect, almost like walking down the street with an Instagram filter on your face. This is the so-called double priming.

Although it is true that it should be taken into account that the results are not magical, the difference is considerably noticeable. This double priming technique would be like a specialization in the preparation of the skin before applying the foundation. A key step for an optimal result, something that makeup professionals clearly agree on.

The double primer has become a phenomenon thanks to the viral videos of users on social networks, such as Instagram and TikTok, in which they show all the steps to achieve this look and the final result. Although it is not a particularly complex technique, it is important to properly follow the steps and use the appropriate products for it to work.

The idea of double priming is based on preparing the skin and combating each of its imperfections with the help of a primer or primer specialized in these tasks. In other words, you must start with a suitable primer for your skin type, to which you must add a second one to even out the tone if you have darker spots or areas, for example. As well as a third that is in charge of minimizing the size of the pores if they are very pronounced. And even a fourth with a matte finish if it is an oily face or one with a tendency to shine.

To prevent anyone from getting lost, the recommendation is to divide the face: forehead, eyes, nose, cheeks and chin. And opt for primers that are responsible for solving the possible problems that may exist in each of these points: expression lines, shine, acne, spots, among others.

Once the face is completely prepared, it will be the turn of the makeup base and the rest of the usual steps. The result will be a skin with a smooth texture, free of imperfections and luminous.
