When it comes to weddings, we are used to hearing love stories that end in a happy I do. However, the story of Juan Ortega and Carmen Otte Alba proves that not all fairy tales have a happy ending. The long-awaited wedding in Jerez de la Frontera had a surprising cancellation, just an hour before the big moment.

The wedding, scheduled for last Saturday, December 2, was abruptly interrupted when Ortega decided to back out after having serious doubts. Apparently, the girlfriend was aware, as reported by El Confidencial, but he did not think that the killer was going to take this step. The decision was made when she spoke with a priest friend of hers who was invited to the wedding.

Josep María Quintana, a 43-year-old priest with a notable background in the social and religious sphere, was the key figure in this incident. Born in Banyoles and raised in an environment linked to Opus Dei, Quintana has developed an important presence both in bullfighting circles and in Madrid's high society, as El Mundo has reported.

In fact, this is not the first time that his advice has had an impact on the love lives of public figures; Previously, he advised Iñigo Onieva and Tamara Falcó, especially the latter, to resume their relationship even though the couple's foundations were completely broken due to the businessman's infidelities.

Quintana is also known for his modern approach and his presence on social networks. On his Instagram profile, which has 38,400 followers, the priest promotes an innovative form of evangelization, something that intensified during the pandemic with his YouTube channel ConFenados and his Macrofiestas del rosary.

In addition to his perseverance and dedication to social networks, Quintana has a solid academic background. According to El Mundo, she graduated in Teaching and Pedagogy from the University of Barcelona, specializing in Physical Education, and then delved deeper into Moral Theology at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome. Her doctoral thesis reflected a combination of her interests, titled Sports Activity: An Anthropological, Social and Moral Reflection on Physical Education from the Teachings of Blessed John Paul II.
