The viral trick to make espadrilles resist the April Fair

There are only two days left until the Real de Sevilla venue opens the doors to a new edition of the April Fair. The style prescribers and the Sevillians have already prepared the outfits that they will wear throughout this long-awaited spring event, which will end on Saturday, April 20 with a fireworks show.

In addition to flamenco dresses and sets full of polka dots and fringes, girls who enjoy the casetas and rebujito opt for footwear that is key to avoiding ending up with sore feet at the end of the party: espadrilles. Some take the opportunity to debut new models while others opt for their favorite pair that has been in their closet for a while and only take it out for this event.

However, the albero, the earth with which the enclosure is made, means that this type of footwear ends up completely destroyed and has to be thrown away. When mixed with water, the albero creates a layer of putty that ends up completely covering the area of the esparto grass, which is damaged.

In order to save this very comfortable footwear, TikToker Celia Guerrero recently published a video on the social network showing her infallible trick so that her espadrilles last without problems throughout the April Fair. “My trick every year so that the esparto grasses don't get dirty at the fair,” says the young woman.

Guerrero shows how he hides the straps of the espadrilles inside and then places a little white glue in a glass and dilutes it with a little water. After mixing it well, he uses a brush to paint the area of the esparto grass with this mixture and lets it dry so that he creates a protective film. “And with this, not even if it rains,” says the young woman.

A trick that has already gone viral and that many of its followers claim they already knew, but others also suggest replacing the white glue with a layer of wood varnish, another tip that works perfectly.
