The universe 'The good wife' refuses to die with the arrival of 'Elsbeth', another spin-off

The spin-off label is attached to any production. What series is successful? Well, we put a character in an episode, we present it and we send it to its own series. That an FBI unit or a fire station gets a hearing? The channel or platform will not hesitate to open another unit in another city. But, when it comes to the universe of The good wife, things are done well and, after The good fight, Elsbeth will arrive, who already has a presentation trailer.

The project is still interesting. The lawyer Elsbeth Tascioni played by Carrie Preston was such an eccentric and good person that she left her mark on the imaginary of the series without ever having been a fixed character: she only appeared in 14 episodes out of 156 of The good wife and in 5 of the 60 from The good fight. And, after winning an Emmy for best guest actress for her work in the original series, she will finally have her moment to shine with a spin-off that will take her to New York.

In Elsbeth, for the record, she will step away from the legal world to help the NYPD in their homicide cases. And it is that, as the detectives will discover, her gift of observation, which can often seem absurd and disconnected from reality, can be useful when hunting criminals.

The cast is completed by Wendell Pierce (The Wire) and Carra Patterson (Straight Outta Compton), in the pilot he will meet Stephen Moyer after working together on True Blood. Behind the cameras, Robert and Michelle King, authors of The good wife and The good fight, sign the pilot and Jonathan Tolins, who worked with them on the spin-off with Christine Baranski, will act as showrunner.

The decision to set the fiction in New York, moreover, could not be more intelligent. In this way they will avoid the need to constantly introduce cameos, allowing it to develop its own identity away from the courts, and the production team will be able to use the full potential of the city: the predecessor series, despite being located in Chicago, they were always shot in New York.
