Actor Lew Palter played the role of Isidor Straus, the businessman and co-owner of Macy's department store. The seventh art star died on May 21, due to lung cancer at his home in Los Angeles. The news had not been released so far, but a few hours ago The Hollywood Reporter confirmed it through the interpreter's own daughter, Catherine Palter.
Despite having been battling cancer for several years, the actor wanted to dedicate his last years of life to teaching in the world of acting and thus somehow be able to stay close to the profession that gave him so many good moments.
This news comes after the recent tragedy of the OceanGate submersible, in which its five passengers died, after the Titan ship imploded. After what happened, it was learned that Wendy Rush, widow of the late director of OceanGate, was a descendant of Isidor and Ida Straus, the couple who died on the ocean liner in 1912. And they gave life to this New York couple in the film, starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, Elsa Raven and the recently deceased Lew Palter.
Although one of his great roles was in Cameron's film, in which he starred in one of the most mythical scenes in the film, where the billionaire died with his wife in their cabin while the ship sank, the interpreter has an extensive career in the film and television industry.
