The Titanic actor who played the relative of one of those who died in the submersible dies

After the tragic event of the Titan, the submersible that imploded in the depths of the Atlantic Ocean and was on its way to see the remains of the most famous ocean liner in the world, Titanic, we have once again heard sad news related to the ship. A few hours ago the death of one of the actors in the 1996 film, directed by James Cameron, came to light.

Actor Lew Palter played the role of Isidor Straus, the businessman and co-owner of Macy's department store. The seventh art star died on May 21, due to lung cancer at his home in Los Angeles. The news had not been released so far, but a few hours ago The Hollywood Reporter confirmed it through the interpreter's own daughter, Catherine Palter.

Despite having been battling cancer for several years, the actor wanted to dedicate his last years of life to teaching in the world of acting and thus somehow be able to stay close to the profession that gave him so many good moments.

This news comes after the recent tragedy of the OceanGate submersible, in which its five passengers died, after the Titan ship imploded. After what happened, it was learned that Wendy Rush, widow of the late director of OceanGate, was a descendant of Isidor and Ida Straus, the couple who died on the ocean liner in 1912. And they gave life to this New York couple in the film, starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, Elsa Raven and the recently deceased Lew Palter.

Although one of his great roles was in Cameron's film, in which he starred in one of the most mythical scenes in the film, where the billionaire died with his wife in their cabin while the ship sank, the interpreter has an extensive career in the film and television industry. His foray into the world of the seventh art began in the 1960s, with roles in productions such as Ladrón sin destino, Days of Our Lives, Mission: Impossible or The Flying Nun. He later managed to make a name for himself in films as popular as Charlie's Angels or in the series The A Team.

After his role in Titanic, the interpreter left his acting career in film and on television, but we could see him in the animated series Animated Stories from the New Testament in 2001 and in the short film In Confidence in 2018.
