'The Snow Girl' begins filming the second season with Miki Esparbé

Snow Girl was sold as a miniseries. A case about the disappearance of a girl named Amaya during the parade of kings in Malaga, six episodes and out. The ideal plan for the cold and homely month of January. But, as readers of Javier Castillo's novels could guess, it was a matter of time before it was renewed if it worked with audiences among Netflix subscribers. And, as the series is about to celebrate its first anniversary, the team begins filming the second season.

It will be this Monday, January 15, when Milena Smit will once again be in front of the cameras as Miren Rojo, an events journalist marked by the rape she suffered when she was young. Aixa Villagrán and Marco Cáceres return as the police inspectors with whom Miren must deal and José Coronado as Eduardo, the university professor who over time became the protagonist's mentor.

As the main novelty, Miki Esparbé also joins the cast, who had already worked in series on the platform such as Smiley and El Innocent, with Hugo Welzel (El Hijo Zurdo), Luis Callejo (Bajocero), Luis Bermejo (Rainbow) and Vicente Romero (The Gypsy Bride) completing the cast. They will film between Malaga and Madrid.

In the second season, Miren investigates an elitist school that seems to be at the center of the disappearance and murder of two young people. She will do it with Jaime, Esparbé's character, an investigative journalist who comes to the newspaper Sur wanting to recover his lost reputation. In their search for the truth, they will find mysteries, secrets, lies and characters as full of wounds as the protagonist.

And look, in addition, there is an envelope with a Polaroid photograph of a gagged young woman. “Do you want to play?” they ask anonymously on the envelope. With this game, Miren's sanity and life will be at stake. Let us remember that she is hurt not only by the rape but also because the images of the sexual assault ended up on the Internet, and she is obsessed with uncovering the web of pornography of death, pedophilia and rape.

The second season is based on The Soul Game, the continuation that Javier Castillo wrote to The Snow Girl and which still has a third part, The Crystal Cuco. The writer from Malaga is a publishing phenomenon: he has sold more than 2.3 million copies of his six novels published to date.

Jesús Mesas Silva and Javier Andrés Roig, who signed the first season of The Snow Girl, are also at the forefront of the new stage as scriptwriters with David Ulloa and Laura Alvea, who also repeats their work.
