The third season of And Just Like That, the television sequel to Sex and the City, is underway. Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis, who were part of the original cast, remain on the payroll as actresses and executive producers. But, with respect to the secondary characters introduced in this new stage, there will be one loss: Sara Ramírez will not return to play Che Diaz.

The character was introduced at the beginning of the first season: Carrie Bradshaw collaborated on a podcast hosted by a non-binary comedian who, after introducing her friends, began an affair with Miranda Bailey. This led the lawyer to abandon Steve, her husband, confirming to what extent her marriage was dead, although the relationship did not last long either: Che and Miranda broke up during the second season, after temporarily living in Los Angeles.

At the time it was speculated that Sara Ramírez's contract may not have been renewed due to her defense of Palestine during the bombing of the Gaza Strip and her critical stance regarding the Israeli war offensive. From Variety, however, they affirm that this is a creative issue: the character had already had a prolific career in And just like that and, after ending his relationship with Miranda, it made no sense to keep him on the payroll and force interactions.

While the departure of a character from a series usually entails mourning among fans, this may not be the case for Che Diaz in And just like that. The character was the main target of criticism during the first season: Sara Ramírez, non-binary like her character, practically played a legged cliché about non-binaryism. To make matters worse, her constant allusions to her gender weren't even funny, something a comedic character cannot afford.

In the second season, Michael Patrick King alluded to the fans' reaction to the Che Diaz plot. The character settled in Hollywood to film a sitcom where he met an audience that did not exactly appreciate his comedic side: it was a reflection of the comments that the scriptwriters of the sequel and Sara Ramírez herself had had to read on social networks. .

The third season of And just like that begins filming in May of this year and it is unknown when it will arrive on HBO Max. What is clear is that, when the first episodes are available, the platform will already be called Max: it is pending rebranding in the coming months in Spain after having already done so in the United States.
