On Thursday afternoon, Ana Rosa Quintana's program addressed one of the most striking events of the last few hours: a 39-year-old man had been arrested by the Civil Guard for murdering a 74-year-old woman in Sabiote, Jaén. Everything indicates that it is a robbery with violence as the motive for the murder and investigators have already ruled out that there was a previous emotional relationship between the two.
According to several residents of the municipality, the alleged murderer was a repeat thief who was well known throughout the town. Furthermore, he had just been released from prison just two months ago for similar crimes. The victim was in charge of keeping the parish money, so the main hypothesis that investigators are considering is that it would have been a robbery with violence.
Antonia, a friend of the victim, and Toni, a former friend of the alleged murderer, spoke live about this whole matter. ''I was in the crosshairs of the alleged murderer because I suffered a rather unpleasant episode at my house. The detainee tried to abuse my chickens (...) Everyone knew what he did with the chickens,' Antonia declared.
For his part, Toni had stopped being friends with the alleged murderer two years ago due to his robberies and threats. ''I found out that he was stealing in the town and in neighboring towns and threatening people. When I saw which foot he was limping on, I told him "you on your side and I on mine," he confessed.
''Everyone knew that he was a criminal, today we are very sad and in a lot of pain because everyone is with a sad face,'' the interviewee stressed. And Carmen was a very loved woman throughout the town. ''She was very generous, supportive, she helped everyone,'' she said. Regarding the reason that led this man to end Carmen's life, Antonia assured that she had a hard time believing everything that had happened. ''I couldn't imagine that this person could do that, but justice will determine if he is guilty or not,'' she revealed.
''I believe that he is not capable of killing, he is a very cowardly person and in fact he has always tried to go after minors or disabled people. "I don't see him capable of confronting anyone or killing a person," said the former friend.
