New makeup trends happen at a dizzying pace on the TikTok social network. If 'latte makeup' and 'strawberry makeup' triumphed last summer, at the end of 2023 the trend was 'French girl makeup'. And now, fashion is changing again. With the launch of the series “Griselda” on the Netflix streaming platform, it is expected that the makeup worn by its protagonist, played by actress Sofía Vergara (“Modern family”), will become the new 'makeup trend' that everyone the world will want to replicate.
Griselda Blanco is considered the first major female drug trafficker in history, whom Pablo Escobar himself admitted to fearing. So her fascinating story has caused great excitement. But so has the aesthetic that it looks throughout the different decades in which the real events narrated in the series take place. And one of the aspects that many have noticed has been the makeup.
The Colombian actress Sofía Vergara was aware that finding the perfect look would be key to playing Griselda Blanco and thus reflecting the woman's personality. That is why the characterization work was carried out with special care, from the clothes and outfits that she wears on screen, to the wigs used. The design team created five different wigs to be used throughout the different periods that make up the series' narrative. And the same thing happened with makeup.
One of the details that received the most attention, and what is best to pay attention to when recreating the look, are the eyebrows. Since they opted for ones very much in the style of the seventies, thinner and with a marked arch. Continuing with the eyes, the look is one of the features that is most enhanced with Griselda's makeup, since it adds weight to her look. This is achieved through a slight smokiness in dark tones, also present in the lower water line.
Another of the key aspects of this makeup is the combination between the concealer and the bronzer, in order to achieve a sun-tanned face effect with a play of light that is achieved through strategic use of the concealer. Also opt for a blush in toasted tones. While, on the lips, another of the most striking points of Griselda's makeup, dark and muted tones are chosen, mainly those lipsticks that are brownish or that have a subtle purple undertone.
