The cause of death of Pepe Domingo Castaño

The world of communication and sports has been overshadowed by the sad news of the death of the renowned announcer Pepe Domingo Castaño. At the age of 80, the legendary communicator leaves a great legacy behind him.

However, his sudden death has left a void in the hearts of his followers and colleagues. Amid the commotion, details are beginning to emerge about the circumstances that led to his unexpected death. The journalist Cristina López Schlichting, through her program on Cadena COPE, has shared details of the delicate state of health that affected Castaño.

As his partner said, a persistent throat infection resistant to different antibiotics had been undermining his well-being. Despite this, the fatal outcome was not something that was seen coming, much less so hastily.

At first it seemed like it wasn't a big deal: a simple sore throat that ended up taking away Castaño's voice. Given the persistence of the discomfort, the announcer decided to enter the Sanitas de la Zarzuela Hospital, a decision that, unfortunately, ended in the diagnosis of something worse.

The clinical picture was not limited to the throat. An intestinal infection coexisted, and together they led Castaño to a critical condition. The culmination of these complications manifested itself in septicemia.

Septicemia is the body's response to an infection that has spread through the bloodstream. This response can cause inflammation throughout the body, which can lead to a cascade of changes that can damage organs and tissues. If not treated in time, organs can begin to fail.

Although the announcer went to the hospital, the serious bloodstream infection triggered multiple organ failure, which unfortunately led to Castaño's death around 2:00 a.m. on Sunday.

Jorge Hevia, producer of Tiempo de Juego, has confessed the team's disbelief in this situation that no one expected because, in principle, it was controlled: "Last night we were leaving the radio, we knew he was admitted, but we were not worried... We knew that was old, but it's something incredible.
