The actor Óscar Casas flies high

“The party is for me to be in good company, with the people I love, like my brothers. I also like that it is in the afternoon and with a good alcohol, alone or with ice, but without mixing it with another type of drink”. The speaker is Óscar Casas (24), an actor also like his older brother Mario (36) and who has hosted the party that Belvedere held in Madrid this Thursday. Actresses like Claudia Salas, singers like Recycled J, influencers like Pelayo Díaz and of course the Casas brothers (Óscar, Mario and Christian) have attended.

Only Daniel Craig, the international protagonist of the vodka brand's campaign, was missing from the party, although the atmosphere of the suite in which the advert takes place has been faithfully reproduced at The Madrid Edition hotel. “I would have loved to meet him because I admire him. Especially in the films he shot as a young man before playing James Bond, which is not the role I like the most of him, but the last one with Ana de Armas hooked me", Óscar confessed to this newspaper shortly before the start of the party.

The actor has traveled from Bulgaria where he is filming Franklin, his first work in English. “It is being a learning experience. My dream has always been to work internationally and in a language other than my mother tongue – he assures – because as an actor it is a challenge to interpret with a different way of speaking than usual”.

At the moment Franklin does not have a release date, but it does have My Solitude Has Wings, the first film by Mario Casas as a director, with Oscar in the lead role and which will hit the screens on August 25: “I think it has been the most important project, for the moment, in which I have enjoyed the most. They have been the happiest three months of my life.” Perhaps because in this shooting he has met the actress Candela González, who is now his partner, after having left him with the also actress Begoña Vargas.

My loneliness has wings was shot in the province of Barcelona, where Óscar was born and lived until he was 7 years old. It deals with the friendship of some young people from a humble neighborhood who try to escape from the spiral of violence that surrounds them, and it is built with some memories that Mario has of him from his childhood. “Emotionally it has been very impressive –explains the protagonist–, because my brother has had to open his heart to me and discover himself. The public will be surprised by Mario's sensitivity as a director”.

“In this film the relationship between the two of us has been solely professional, because I didn't want to contaminate the work. We traveled in separate cars and lived in separate apartments,” she explains. Something important given the close relationship between all the brothers: Mario, Sheila (35), Christian (31), Óscar and Daniel (9).

“With my family I have won the lottery,” he says proudly. Every time I have it clearer and I think about the luck that life has given me. No one can take this away from us and if we can work together, then it is insurmountable”. When asked which of his brothers he gets along better with, he quickly answers: “It's like the fingers of one hand. Each one is different and has its function, but if they are cut, the pain is exactly the same”.

That's why he doesn't mind being compared to Mario: "I'm super proud of him and that they refer to me as his brother," he says. He assures that he has helped him professionally and emotionally and above all he paved the way with his family when he announced that he also wanted to be an actor: "I have had it easier, more padded."

He would love to work on films of a social nature like Alcarràs. “It's a movie charm, where it seems like you're looking at his life through a peephole. It fascinated me and I would like to delve into a cinema that is as real as it is fascinating ”, she confesses.

Óscar Casas stood in front of the cameras for the first time at the age of 7 as the grandson of Rosa Maria Sardà in the series Abuela de verano, later came titles such as 53 days of winter, The Orphanage, Águila roja, Cuéntame como pasó, Jaguar or Pollos sin head, recently released. “Now I am aware of how lucky I have been to work with great professionals since I was a child and I have recovered ways of working that I did not understand at the time”.

In Fuga de cerebros or El barco he played the character of Mario Casas as a child and in Instinto, his younger brother. "Jose, who was autistic, has been perhaps the most difficult character I have had to face and I also believe the profession began to see me in a different way and trust me, from then on."
