This Thursday Albert Espinosa premiered his new program on La Sexta, Camino a casa, a format of interviews with famous people whose first guest was Jesulín de Ubrique. However, before the premiere, the presenter did rounds of interviews on the different Atresmedia programs, leaving those present completely shocked by his personal story.
In fact, that is precisely what happened to Sonsoles Ónega yesterday on his show. The presenter not only could not hold back her tears, but she broke down inconsolably crying live without being able to articulate a word. So much so that Espinosa himself ended up hugging the journalist.
It all happened when Albert Espinosa explained to Sonsoles Ónega how the idea of doing the program Camino a casa arose, which premiered this Thursday on La Sexta. “I had cancer at the age of 14, I lost a leg, a lung, a piece of my liver. I always say that I did not lose a leg, but that I gained a stump, ”he began by saying.
“I didn't lose a lung, but I learned with half of what you have that you can live. And since my liver was removed in a star shape so I think I have a sheriff inside me. And I think that in the end life is about turning losses into gains”, the writer continued with a smile on his face.
And, at that precise moment, he stopped his story when he saw Sonsoles Ónega -whom the camera had not yet focused on- burst into tears. The presenter, very emotional, could not hold back her tears or articulate any words while Espinosa tried to comfort her. "Oh, how beautiful," the guest told him.
"I love looking at the thickness of people's tears and yours is beautiful," the writer told her to comfort her. So, he continued with her story, which moved the journalist even more: "The most intelligent boy in the hospital died at the age of 11 and he always told me that he wanted to make the way home and I kept this idea" .
So, “when he died, he wanted them to cremate him and give each of us hourglasses, which instead of sand had his ashes, so that we would understand that death was life. And I did this program in honor of him.” And, finally, seeing that Sonsoles could not stop crying, he told her: "He would have been very excited to see you like this."
Espinosa did not hesitate to hug the journalist to comfort her and when she managed to calm down and speak, he told her: "It is the way you have to tell it, you do magic with your words, it is very exciting that you are here today, your naturalness is exciting."
