Shakira wants to be close to her father before an important operation in Colombia

Shakira does not stop traveling around the world. A few days ago she was in Barcelona enjoying free time after leaving her children with Gerard Piqué. Soon after, she headed to Miami to support the Miami Heat at a basketball game featuring NBA star Jimmy Butler.

A few hours later, the singer has caught a plane again, this time to go to her native country, Colombia. The one from Barranquilla has decided to return to her family for a good cause. William Mebarak, her father, has to undergo a surgical operation that worries Shakira, for this very reason, she wants to be by her side to take care of her.

This same Thursday, Shakira traveled to Cartagena de Indias, accompanied by her brother Tonino, to be with her father at this difficult time. As soon as she arrived, the singer went to the Serena del Mar Clinic, where William Mebarak, 91, is hospitalized.

The reason that leads Shakira's father to undergo this intervention is an excess accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain, which causes harmful pressure. "They are going to try to solve the hydrocephalus that he suffers from," they pointed out in the program Y ahora Sonsoles. William has been going through a delicate state of health for a long time and the singer is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that her mother is in the best possible shape.

During the month of February, William Mebarak had to be admitted to a private clinic in Barcelona due to a fall he suffered that caused neuronal lesions. As a result of that accident, some blood clots were seen in his brain, which meant that he had to be as closely monitored as possible. Since then, Shakira has not stopped watching over her state of health.

This new operation in Colombia would be key for the singer's father, since he could have difficulties with coordination, balance or vision problems if not treated as soon as possible. The intervention will be carried out by a medical team from the Santa Fe Foundation in charge of Dr. Fernando Hakim.

Shakira leaves behind a few days of disconnection and fun where she hasn't wasted any time. Upon her surprise arrival in Barcelona, the singer attended the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix, where her great friend Lewis Hamilton competed. And it was with the same pilot with whom she enjoyed a night at the sushi restaurant El Parco in Barcelona, surrounded by more friends.

On the other hand, in Miami he was seen by the basketball game where the Miami Heat played a lot. It is not the first time that the singer will cheer on Jimmy Butler's team, with whom she has been associated in recent weeks. In that same game, she also met other familiar faces, such as the soccer player Neymar or the former basketball players Magic Johnson and Dwyane Wade.
