On Netflix they are aware that they have a true crime phenomenon on their hands: the adaptation of the so-called urban guard crime. Pedro, an agent of this police force, was found dead and burned in the trunk of a car, which they found in the Foix reservoir. First, the case caught the attention of the media. Later, Carles Porta's Crims program brought light to the darkness. And, finally, it will have a fictionalized version with El cuerpo en llamas.
The synopsis is as follows: "May 2017. The corpse of a man appears burned inside a car in the Foix reservoir, in Barcelona. It is Pedro, a police officer. The event quickly arouses the interest of the public opinion, and more so as the investigation reveals a network of toxic relationships, deceit, violence and sexual scandals involving Pedro and two of his fellow policemen: his partner Rosa and her ex-boyfriend, Albert".
The creative team also comes from another high-profile Netflix project: Laura Sarmiento, who wrote the dramatic thriller Intimacy (and whom we interviewed at the time), once again joins forces with director Jorge Torregrossa, who knew how to exploit the potential modern and industrial Bilbao in the series will be led by Itziar Ituño, Patricia López Arnaiz, Verónica Echegui and Emma Suárez.
The first images show Úrsula Corberó and José Manuel Poga in the shoes of Pedro Rodríguez and Rosa Peral, after having coincided in La casa de papel. Quim Gutiérrez, who starred in the superheroic and costumbrista comedy El vecino for Netflix, will be Albert López. And, completing the cast, Isak Férriz (Bajocero) and Eva Llorach (Who will sing to you).
The body on fire, which is planned as a miniseries, will be released in 2023, although it does not yet have a release date.
