Rosario Porto's lawyer does not hold back and reveals what "bothers" him about the 'Asunta case' series

11 years after Asunta's death, the case that shook Spanish society and generated numerous headlines and hours of television has once again been put in the media spotlight. The Netflix series The Asunta Case wanted to bring to the present what happened both before, during, and after the murder.

And if there is something that many have agreed on, it is that the role of Candela Peña, as Rosario Porto, and Tristán Ulloa, as Alfonso Basterra, is almost a carbon copy of reality. So much so, that even José Luis Gutiérrez Aranguren, former lawyer of the victim's mother, wanted to put it on the table. However, he has not hesitated to show his discomfort with a specific aspect that is related in fiction and that he did not like at all.

The lawyer has offered a connection for the program Let's see where he has not hesitated to once again claim the innocence of the convicted, specifically of his client. “There is not a single piece of evidence,” he said. After this, he stated that the series that has been made “from a technical and casting point of view” is “very good”, although he does not share some things.

“I also disagree with some aspects and there is one that especially bothered me,” he said. And the thing is that, among other things, he believes that although the fiction respects the names of the three protagonists, it "disguises" the lawyers, the judge, the prosecutor and "even the Civil Guard."

But that is not all. He has made it very clear that he does not like how they have portrayed him, showing a lawyer that "he appears as someone who goes with a charge of superiority to see Belén Hospido and convinces her so that the two of them together can rise to fame and make a show of this trial.” Something that categorically states that it was not like that.

As she has defended, the other lawyer is a professional “like the top of a pine tree”, something that anyone who has dealt with her at any time knows. “And, therefore, that position of subordination seems to me to be a sexist staging. Of course I am absolutely against it and I can tell adults that Belén intervenes before me in the case,” she continued.

And in this connection he has coincided with the judge who investigated the case, Vázquez Taín, who was on the set at that same moment. A person with whom, according to the lawyer, he has a "good relationship", despite having had his "tensions because each one had a different role."

Given this, Taín himself has not hesitated to give his opinion on the lawyer. “Rosario had the best defense she could have, which is you,” he stated. “I hope many lawyers take note,” he added. And José Luis Gutiérrez Aranguren continued to worry about his client even years after losing the case.
