Rosario Bermudo is recognized as the daughter of 'The Red Duchess' husband and will be able to access her inheritance

Five years ago, the head of Court number 77 of Madrid recognized that a woman from Écija (Seville), Rosario Bermudo, 67 years old, was the daughter of Leoncio González, husband of the Duchess of Medina Sidonia, Luisa Isabel Álvarez de Toledo, better known as the 'red duchess'. The DNA test provided had a 99.99% match, the maximum that can be obtained.

After several years fighting to be recognized, the Supreme Court has finally determined that Rosario Bermudo is the daughter of the Duke of Medina Sidonia. From now on, she will be able to use the surnames shared by her 'new' siblings Leoncio, Pilar and Gabriel, also accessing part of her inheritance.

As Jesús Carmona revealed in EL ESPAÑOL, from now on Rosario, 70, will have the last name González de Gregorio Muñoz. This housewife was conceived on a farm in Badajoz, where her mother worked as part of the service every summer.

After discovering the identity of her father, Rosario requested a paternity test. However, the brothers refused to be subjected to the tests, thus resorting to the exhumation of her father's body. The DNA test showed a 99.99% match, the maximum that can be obtained.

Rosario's lawyer affirms that his client now has the right to the family inheritance: "It will be distributed, but now it must be readjusted. She has two children and what we want is to reach an agreement. In the event that they go to the Constitutional Court, “It would not paralyze filiation or inheritance,” says Fernando Osasuna.

It was last year, in 2022, when Rosario demanded that the 2018 ruling be applied, which accredited her as the heir to a fortune that could be close to three million euros. Likewise, she is not the only extramarital descendant of Leoncio González. The aristocrat was also the father of Javier Isidro, the result of a temporary romantic relationship.
