Rodolfo Sancho will not travel to Thailand to see his son in prison for security reasons

Daniel Sancho continues in provisional prison since last Monday, accused of the murder of the Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta in Thailand. The investigation enters a key week, in which the police intend to finish collecting evidence and prepare their first report, which could speed up the process and bring forward the start date of the trial.

It was considered that the actor Rodolfo Sancho and his ex-partner, Silvia Bronchales, mother of the confessed murderer, could travel in the next few hours to be with her son, but they would have made the unexpected decision not to go by her side, as Ángel Leiras explained. in the Summer Party program.

Daniel Sancho's parents are right now at a crucial moment, because today their lawyers in Spain will receive all the documentation of the case and on Tuesday, they will be able to listen to what the Thai police have to say about what happened, because they will give a conference press.

“Rodolfo Sancho has made an important decision. A decision that we did not expect, because we had other information”, explained Leiras, “We had said that Daniel was isolated in the Koh Samui prison for a period of 10 days, continuing with the covid isolation they have there. Everything indicated that on Wednesday he would go to jail and that would be when he could receive his first visits from relatives.

According to the journalist, it was considered that Daniel Sancho's parents would take advantage of that moment to travel to Thailand, but they decided not to. “According to the family spokesperson, that trip will not take place. Rodolfo prefers to stay in Spain, ”he explained, referring to how the actor has entrenched himself in his refuge in Fuerteventura, trying to remain oblivious to the press.

“Surely, for security reasons, it is better to stay here than to travel to Thailand, contrary to what we all thought. That trip will be postponed in time ”, the journalist finished.

The advances of the investigation have revealed that Sancho and Arrieta would have met last year through Instagram. After several meetings in different parts of the globe, they had met on the Thai island of Koh Phangan on August 2, the day on which the murder and dismemberment of the Colombian surgeon supposedly occurred, whose remains have been found in various locations, including the sea.

Sancho, who entered provisional prison last Monday, will complete the ten-day isolation period next Thursday, as a covid-19 protocol for the new inmates, and could receive visits from his relatives who, for the moment, seem which will not occur.

For their part, although Arrieta's family said in a statement that they would not make statements so as "not to hinder the investigation", the sister of the deceased, Darlin Arrieta, has broken the silence and has asked the Colombian authorities for help "to make justice because my brother's crime cannot go unpunished".

Once convicted and after serving at least four years of his sentence, as long as this is not capital punishment, Sancho would have the right to request his transfer to a Spanish prison, although it could be rejected by Spain or Thailand.
