Origami: how to make Christmas trees

Christmas decoration allows us to play with our imagination and creativity so that our entire home emanates the spirit of these holidays. The easiest thing is to use decorative objects that we can buy in stores, such as the typical fir tree and its respective ornaments, as well as lights.

But there are those who prefer to opt for something more special, unique, original and full of personality. How to decorate the house with recycled materials, replace the typical door wreath with other different decorations or even venture into origami to create ideal ornaments.

With a little skill we can recreate paper Christmas trees to place them wherever we like. From a centerpiece, to placed on the branches of the original tree, to a detail on the window ledges. Let's see how to do them step by step.

On the YouTube channel Manualidades Play, with almost 400 thousand subscribers, we find a practical and simple tutorial to create paper Christmas trees, which will look very original wherever you place them and, in addition, are an excellent alternative for recycling paper that You have left over from wrapping the gifts.

To start, we need a square piece of paper. The size of this piece of paper will determine the size of the tree. Fold this piece of paper diagonally and then both halves. Open the piece of paper again and place it so that one corner is facing down. Next, we fold the two sides inward and fold the bottom corner as seen in the video.

The result at this moment will be a rhombus whose folded ends you must mark well. Then you have to fold the upper sides on the diagonal, repeating the process on the reverse side.

The next step is to cut the lower end with scissors, leaving us with a folded triangle-shaped piece. Next, we unfold one of the side folds and push the fold inward and the same with the other sides. When we have everything folded, we cut strips at the ends with the scissors, without reaching the center. Then we fold the cutouts on themselves, as seen in the tutorial. Finally, we open the folds, shaping the paper Christmas tree.

You can make a composition with several trees of different sizes and varying the color or pattern of the chosen paper. Also, another option is to add paper decorations or other materials to your trees, such as glitter, pom-poms, or bows.
