Ángel Cristo Jr. has given an interview in De Friday in which he questioned the role of his mother, Bárbara Rey. Although it seemed that they had a bond like that of any father with his son, in reality, he assures, that is not the case.
If Bárbara Rey has boasted about anything, it is that she fought for her children, especially after the problems she had to face derived from the addictions and violence of the late Ángel Cristo. However, the testimony of her son shows an alternative to what Rey has always told.
Ángel Cristo has revealed a side of his relationship with his parents that was not known until now. In fact, he has acknowledged that “I don't remember beautiful moments, but I do remember arguments in the circus.” Although he states that, “the real nightmare was not my father, it was my mother.”
He explained that he lived his first years of life in the circus “surrounded by family, artists and cousins.” At only 5 years old, “they put me to work as an elephant tamer,” a job that he took as a game, without being aware that “there were people who had died because of those animals.”
“My parents put money in an account. Money that didn't reach me. The reality is that when it was necessary they used it for whatever it was,” Cristo said. But he explained that “neither of the two parents was capable of raising their children as they should be.”
Ángel Cristo Jr. has reported the negligence of his parents in his care and that of his sister, Sofía Cristo. In fact, he said in the interview for Friday that his nanny was the one who took care of them. "Since the orphidal in the bottle, my mother has medicated me for life because I was the problem."
The figure of his parents was never present in his childhood, or at least not as he understands. “Being with your children, with schedules, stability, having them sit with you to do their homework. That's what I expect from a mother." Because, according to Christ, she “brought money home, but that is not being a mother.”
