Netflix sets a date for the return of 'Heartstopper', one of its jewels

Netflix executives do not want the streak of good news to end for the platform. After having an unexpected audience phenomenon with The Night Agent, which is already part of the list of the most successful series in the history of the service, and after the fantastic reviews garnered by Bronca and La Diplomática, they have announced the release date of one of its jewels: the second season of Heartstopper will arrive on August 3 in the markets in which the platform operates.

When one reads a novel, the brain places no limits on the text, yielding the imagination to what the words evoke or, in the case of a graphic novel, even the images. For this reason, readers are often critical of the adaptation, considering that it does not take full advantage of the reference material's potential. But, in the case of Heartstopper, the opinion was almost unanimous: the first season, written by the author of the graphic novels, Alice Oseman, was faithful to the material in the best of ways.

The first eight episodes focused on the relationship of friendship and romantic tension between Nick and Charlie. Nick, popular and on the high school rugby team, was suddenly attracted to Charlie, more shy and still trying to get over being bullied for his masculinity and sexuality in previous years. His friends included Elle, her trans friend who moved to a gender-conforming school, and Tao, fearful that his best friend group had disbanded because of so much change.

Kit Connor, Joe Locke, Yasmin Finney and William Gao are confirmed for the cast of the second season as are Corinna Brown (Tara), Kizzy Edgell (Darcy), Sebastian Croft (Ben), Tobie Donovan (Isaac), Rhea Norwood ( Imogene), Jenny Walser (Tori) Cormac Hyde-Corrin (Harry) and Olivia Colman as Nick's mother. Here is the video published by Netflix on the occasion of the announcement of the return date:

According to data from Netflix, the series entered the list of the most watched series of the week in 54 countries and achieved unanimous applause from critics, with 100% positive reviews, as analyzed by the Rotten Tomatoes website. It could be understood. Unlike so many adolescent series with LGTBQ protagonists, Heartstopper treated the stories of friendship and love with understanding, optimism and even a pedagogical point, and Netflix compensated the results with a renewal for two seasons: the third, therefore It's already confirmed.
