Like every May, thousands of people around the globe look forward to one of the most important events of the year: the MET gala. Since 2005, this event has been held on the first Monday of the fifth month of the year, so it will be tonight when the most famous figures on the international scene show off their best clothes on the famous stairs of the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
The party organized by Anna Wintour aims to raise money for the Costume Institute of the New York museum, but it also serves as the opening for the temporary exhibition that can be seen from May 10 to September 2.
As we all know, every year there is a different theme that inspires the outfits of many of the guests at the celebration. Last year, the outfits revolved around designer Karl Lagerfeld, but this time they wanted to give a title that gives rise to more interpretations. The chosen theme is titled The Garden of Time and is inspired by the story of the same name by J.G. Ballard from 1962. It should be noted that the museum's spring exhibition is called ''Sleeping Beauties: Fashion Awakens'', so expect lots of flowers and vintage clothing.
The Met Gala starts around six in the afternoon in New York City, so in Spain we can see the first shows around midnight. The event will last until dawn from Monday to Tuesday, which is why only Spaniards who go to bed late will be able to enjoy the live show.
As for the broadcast, Vogue has the exclusive, so the red carpet can be followed through its website Vogue.com and its different digital platforms (TikTok, YouTube, etc.). The event can also be seen from some media outlets such as The Associated Press or E!, which will broadcast live on their social networks.
Each year, Wintour and her team choose different figures to take on the role of hosts of the Met Gala. In the last edition, Dua Lipa, Michaela Coel, Penélope Cruz, Roger Federer and Wintour herself had the honor of playing this role.
This year, the expectation is enormous, since those chosen for said title are great figures from the world of cinema, television and music: Bad Bunny, Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez and Chris Hemsworth.
Although the official list of attendees is a mystery that is revealed as the different figures appear on the red carpet of the event, it is expected that the hosts will bring their partners (Tom Holland, Ben Affleck and Elsa Pataky), as well as many take for granted the stellar appearance of Rihanna.
The presence of some of the Kardashian-Jenner sisters is also inevitably expected, who usually attract everyone's attention thanks to their extravagant outfits and their stunning outfits.
