Pedro Sánchez has become one of the most prominent names of the year 2023 in Spain. After the socialist debacle in the municipal elections last May, the then president of the fourteenth legislature made the risky decision to advance the general elections to July, with the intention of avoiding an even greater rise of the PP and VOX. The move, after the relevant complicated negotiations, ended up working out in his favor.
Now with the fifteenth legislature begun, the current president of the government has allowed himself the opportunity to present his own book to the media and relevant authorities. Under the title of Tierra Firme, it is a personal chronicle that aims to continue what began in Manual de resistance, recounting his experiences in recent years until reaching the night of July 23. He has also done it in the company of an outstanding figure.
Jorge Javier Vázquez, presenter of Sálvame y Cuentos Chinos on Telecinco, has been in charge of conducting and moderating the presentation of the book, held this Monday at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid. During the event, both had an avid conversation about different topics, including the communicator's first visit to the Moncloa palace. However, Jorge Javier has also had the opportunity to put the president in more trouble.
"I would like to clarify the relationship I have with Pedro Sánchez because there are many people who think that we see each other every weekend, that we spend holidays together, that I am almost his court counselor. The president has even had time to drop one of the most iconic phrases on television when seeing the directions that the conversation with Jorge Javier took, emulating Francisco Umbral in We want to know: “I have come to talk about my book.” The Badalona native assured him that they would talk just enough about Tierra Firme before asking a striking question: "Honestly, did you call elections to leave Ana Rosa without vacations?"
It has not been the only question that has caused laughter among those attending the Círculo de Bellas Artes. Vázquez has assured that, if Sánchez had to participate in a television program, it had to be survivors, to which the leader responded by referring to Francisco Galindo Vélez, the person in charge of coordinating the negotiations between PSOE and Juntos: “Do you do it in El Savior?
