The journalist Verónica Bastos, host of the television space La mesa caliente (Telemundo), launched the "news" on the 2nd on the set. Tonino would have come to blows with Gerard Piqué when trying to defend his sister when the discussion between the ex-partner raised the decibels. Tonino Mebarak is more than a brother to the singer: adviser, support and, many times, a filter for the press. But, above all, he is an educated man that no journalist from Barcelona, where he has been with Shakira all these years, can imagine raising a hand to anyone. And this time he was no different.
La Vanguardia has been able to confirm in two ways, that of Shakira and that of Piqué, that such a story is completely unfounded. Tonino and Gerard only met when the former gave him the children so that they could spend these days with him. Nothing else. Bastos herself explained the alleged brawl with a speech full of conditionals and shield paraphrases so as not to stain herself, culminating with the following:
"According to rumors, the Police had to intervene to stop this altercation, and we must clarify that there is no police report, there is no official public report on said incident." In the same 'news' they deny part of the lie. The confusion ceremony includes as a source of the story "the Spanish press", according to the text that includes the gathering on the program's website.
A huge number of Latin American media gave rise to the non-existent altercation but also found an echo in Spain: everything that surrounds the ex-partner sells, increases visits, generates more rumors and the hoax machine turns until the next lie appears, not always toxic but sometimes as nice as the jar of jam.
