How to properly clean the clothes iron

There are elements of our home that we tend to forget when it comes to cleaning. For example, the dust that accumulates on the walls. Even household appliances intended for cleaning, such as the dishwasher or the washing machine, require a certain level of hygiene for their proper functioning.

To these must be added the clothes iron, which accumulates traces of dust, limescale, dirt from products that we use during ironing such as starches or sprays... With this accumulation of dirt, the iron loses its effectiveness, it gets stuck to clothing, it can leave stains on your clothes and create an ugly dark, rusty stain. Therefore, it is necessary that you clean it superficially at least once a month. Every six months, or when you notice more important stains, it will be time for a deep cleaning. Let's see how to do it.

When you notice that the iron is very dirty, it has traces of lime and leaves stains on your clothes, it is time to deep clean the inside. To do this, fill your tank with a mixture of distilled water and cleaning vinegar in equal parts. Plug in and turn the iron on to full power with the steam option on.

Iron a cloth or towel that you don't mind if it gets stained, so that the steam that comes out cleans the inside of the iron and the holes. Then empty the tank and wipe the iron with a damp cloth.
