Guillermo and Kate Middleton, devastated after the multiple stabbing in Sydney

It is not an easy time for Prince William and Kate Middleton. It was at the beginning of the year when the Princess of Wales underwent abdominal surgery about which little was known until two weeks ago, at which time she announced that the intervention revealed that she suffers from cancer. Due to the illness, the couple is away from the media spotlight, and the heir to the throne has also reduced his professional commitments to be by his wife's side. However, both have reappeared on social networks this Saturday for a compelling reason: the multiple stabbing in Sydney.

Although Kate is undergoing "preventive chemotherapy" treatment, the Princes of Wales wanted to show their condolences to the city of Sydney after the attack on a shopping center in the Australian city this Saturday. They have done so through their social networks, where they have expressed themselves "shocked and saddened by the terrible events that occurred today in Sydney."

"Our thoughts are with all those affected, including the loved ones of those lost and the heroic police officers who risked their own lives to save others," the couple says on their official channels, concluding this text with their initials W (William) and C (Catherine) by way of signature. But the truth is that the couple has not been the only one from the royal family to show their dismay.

"We are horrified by the tragic stabbing. Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of those who were brutally murdered during the senseless attack (...) We give thanks for the bravery of the emergency services," said King Charles III in a statement this Saturday.

The last time the Prince and Princess of Wales were in Australia was in 2014, during a very special state trip, since they traveled with their son, Prince George. Then, the very young member of royalty was only one year old. Australia is a country for which they have a very special affection, one of the reasons why they have been so dismayed.

Regarding what happened in Sydney, as reported by Anthony Cooke, deputy commissioner of the New South Wales police, at least six people have died from stabbings at the hands of an individual in the Westfield Bondi Junction Shopping Centre. This person would have attacked unceremoniously with a knife. In addition, seven other people were seriously injured, including a nine-month-old baby. "Based on preliminary investigations, it appears that this person acted alone," Cooke explained. Finally, the perpetrator was shot dead by the Police.
