Gerard Piqué gets wet in the Dani Alves case: "It's early, but I would be tougher than justice"

Gerard Piqué went to the Rac1 studios this Tuesday for an interview with the journalist Jordi Basté, director and presenter of the radio morning show El món a Rac1. The conversation has revolved around the course of Barça, the Negreira case and the long-awaited final of the Kings League, but the communicator has also asked him about various current issues, such as the legal situation of his former teammate Dani Alves.

In this sense, Piqué has been devastated by the situation of the defendant for a crime of rape, he has wanted to show that it is too early to convict him, and he has been inflexible if the victim's story is proven to be true.

"It is a very complicated case. Because I know him personally and I appreciate him highly. The whole case, for those of us who have been colleagues or former colleagues, and for himself is very difficult. I just want justice to do its job. Until they tell me that he has done it and that there is evidence, I think we have to wait. The easiest thing nowadays is to say that he is already guilty and that it is worth it. I want to wait. Wait until what the judge says. And if the judge believes that it is one thing or the other, then you have to abide by it and from there, above all, help the victim in the process."

Piqué has indicated that he would never have expected this from his former teammate, but if it were true, he would be even tougher than justice. "He is a host with an open hand to everyone, a host of reality. You think 'how could it have happened?' If it is like that and it has happened, I think you have to be very hard. With him and with everything the world to do such a thing. I would even be harsher than justice is because I am totally in favor of all those who defend the only yes is yes", the Catalan has valued.

To close, Piqué wanted to side with so many victims of sexist violence: "I think we have to respect each other, men and women. In the end, what we want is to live in a world where things don't happen Unfortunately, they do happen and we have to live with each other, but here I would be totally inflexible and I would be very harsh in the event that this has happened, as it seems that it has.

Among the messages of affection for Piqué when he announced his retirement from Barça, there was one that Dani Alves dedicated to him. "Like it more or less, no one is going to take away how great you were as an athlete and how great you were for Barca. We are all imperfect and that is what makes us human. May you be very happy nanu!", wrote on Instagram the Brazilian hours after the announcement showing mutual affection.
