Eminem celebrates 16 years of sobriety by showing his Alcoholics Anonymous badge

American rapper Marshall Mathers III, better known as Eminem, is celebrating. The Lose Yourself artist published this past Saturday, April 20, a very significant image on his Instagram profile to commemorate the 16 years that he has not consumed drugs or alcohol.

The 51-year-old rapper shared with his more than 42 million followers a photograph in which you can see his hand holding a sobriety coin. This is a commemorative coin that Alcoholics Anonymous gives to all those who overcome certain phases in their fight against addiction.

Eminem, who admitted many years ago that he had serious problems with alcohol and drugs, confessed at the time that one of his worst addictions was pharmaceutical pills. After overcoming one of his darkest times and being aware that his addiction was ruining his life, the American rapper decided to undergo a detoxification process, with which at the moment he is having great results.

Furthermore, the singer explained on more than one occasion that his great motivation for getting out of the black hole he was in was to see his children grow up. ''A wish with which I moved mountains,'' he confessed. ''Getting clean helped me mature. I feel like all the years I consumed I didn't grow as a person,'' the rapper revealed in an interview with Elton John.

It is not the first time that the American proudly shows his achievements on his social networks. Years ago, the rapper published a very similar image in which he celebrated ten years without drinking alcohol or using drugs.

The publication, which has more than a million likes, has provoked the reaction of many colleagues and followers, who did not want to miss the opportunity to congratulate the rapper on his new personal achievement. ''Sweet 16. We are very proud of you'', ''Congratulations man, thanks for being an example'', ''You are a true inspiration'', ''Well done and thanks for sharing the journey with us'', were some of the comments.
