Edwin Arrieta's words that would refute Daniel Sancho's version of his case: "A gastronomic project is coming"

The figure of the Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta continues to fill hours of discussions and articles on portals weeks after his death. His confessed murderer, the Spanish Daniel Sancho, has remained locked up since the beginning of August in the Koh Samui prison, receiving visits from his family and his legal representatives. However, the figure of the victim has been the protagonist in recent hours due to the information that appeared in ¡Hola!.

The magazine specialized in the world of the heart publishes this week a posthumous interview, originally conducted in the month of January, where Arrieta announced a gastronomic project with Sancho. A few words from the victim that would call into question the version of the accused, who defended at all times that he felt threatened and detained by the man whom he would end up dismembering on the Thai island of Koh Phangan.

“For 2023, apart from expanding my practice in Spain, a gastronomic project is coming up, which is another of my passions. I have left polo behind a bit, my favorite sport, because I dedicate most of my days to my patients,” he expressed in the pages of the magazine nine months ago. Some statements that contrast with what has been said at all times about Daniel Sancho, who was allegedly cornered by his presence.

“Daniel has always said that he was in a cage, so we will have to check whether Edwin's intentions were also desired by Daniel or not,” said Sancho family spokesperson Carmen Balfagón at the time. This version also clashes with a series of messages that Arrieta sent to a person who remains anonymous. The texts in question informed him that the surgeon really wanted to be in a relationship with Sancho.

“Don't forget to look at my apartment in Barcelona, I want to get away from Madrid for my partner's friends. As I already told you, I want to make my life with Dani, but not in Madrid, send me the de facto couple's budget, don't worry about the payment, I have an account in a bank in Spain. By September we will carry out all the procedures,” he explained in one of the writings. Despite the circumstances, the family's legal team is clinging to the presumption of innocence.

“Because let's not fool ourselves, Daniel Sancho is innocent until proven otherwise, in a fair trial, with all the guarantees and in the corresponding court, which will be the Provincial Court, which here is called the Provincial Code. There you will see the prosecutor's evidence and ours. Obviously, the Prosecutor's Office still does not have the latest evidence from the Police. In 15 or 20 days they will transfer us and from there, we will go to work,” said Marcos García Montes on his last visit to Koh Samui.
