The trial against Daniel Sancho continues in Thailand for the murder of Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta last August on the Thai island of Ko Pha Ngan. This coming Tuesday, April 23, the third week of the judicial process will begin, which began on April 9 and will conclude on May 3. After the testimony of several key witnesses in the investigation, this coming Wednesday it will be the turn of the Spanish chef, who will tell the judge his version of the alleged premeditated murder.
A few hours before the procedure resumed in the Provincial Court of Koh Samui, the Sonsoles Ónega program exclusively revealed the testimony of the interpreter who had been hand in hand with Rodolfo Sancho's son throughout his stay in the Asian country.
Cristina Rusiñol, a reporter for the program in Thailand, assured this Monday that the interviewee was quite afraid to speak and that the interview had taken them a while to get. The journalist revealed that the interpreter came to the case through the lawyer of Rodolfo Sancho's son. ''He is the translator with whom Daniel has been understanding best in the months that he has been in prison. "He knows perfectly well what Daniel's version is, how he has found himself in prison and what his concerns have been," she revealed.
Furthermore, Mr. Pichett Wirathongghai has been in charge of helping and advising the accused with the statement he will make this coming Wednesday. ''The first time I visited him in prison was on November 16, 2023. He is a very handsome young man, but underneath that figure he seemed nervous, scared and anxious,'' he said.
Regarding their first meetings, the translator revealed that the Spanish chef did not know the laws of Thailand and that this was a great concern for him. ''He spoke to me very quickly. I started with simple questions and I began to see him calm down. And there I explained to him about the country's legal process,' he said.
His relationship with Rodolfo and Daniel Sancho has been strictly professional. ''I have met Rodolfo more times than with Daniel because we have had meetings. I was quite impressed with Rodolfo. He was very worried about his son and the first time I visited him, he came to me and said 'please help my son', said Mr. Pichett Wirathongghai, Daniel Sancho's first interpreter in prison. ''Rodolfo is a good father, he is trying to do the best for his son, he respected us and our process,'' he added. Regarding Sancho's mother, the interpreter claimed that he had only seen her in court. ''I have never spoken to her,'' he asserted.
