Mataró was once again the scene today, coinciding with the 175th anniversary of the first railway on the Peninsula, for new innovative projects that will contribute to promoting improvements in the field of rail mobility. Renfe has already called the second edition of the Antena TrenLab awards once the success of the projects generated during the first call has been consolidated.

The president of Renfe, Raül Blanco, and the mayor of Mataró, David Bote, presented yesterday at the facilities that Antena TrenLab has in the TecnoCampus technology and university park, the second edition of some awards that aim to promote innovative solutions to improve the rail service .

Likewise, the new challenges were announced so that the entrepreneurs selected in October have access to the park's facilities and, most importantly, enter into an acceleration process that includes testing the solution in the surroundings of the Maresme region, as yesterday the companies of the first edition achieved.

Blanco praised the innovative initiatives and accepted the need for trains to adapt to the needs of the future. In this regard, he assured that as of 2025, 101 new state-of-the-art units will gradually reach the Rodalies network in Catalonia, which will allow not only modernizing the fleet, but also making it more agile and accessible, which will also lead to obvious improvements in the service, in the frequencies and in the availability, the main claims of the users. “We will almost totally renew the fleet”, he concluded.

Antena TrenLab Mataró is the first territorial node of the Antenas TrenLab network promoted by Renfe, a space for open innovation and entrepreneurship in sustainable mobility that is located in the TecnoCampus, looking for synergies with the park's entrepreneurial ecosystem.

In addition to launching the second call for awards, during the event, the project's new website (www.antenatrenlab.com) was presented, which allows you to follow the schedule of activities and the latest developments in the sustainable mobility ecosystem, as well as the characteristics of the second edition of the awards and the testimonials of the companies that have participated in its first edition.

With an endowment of €150,000, the prizes are articulated around four challenges:

In addition to the financial prize, the four winning companies will have access to a six-month solution acceleration process that includes the possibility of testing the solution in the area of ​​Mataró and Maresme, just as the companies have done in the first edition.
