The union for a coffee from the plantation to the cup

With the aim of “controlling the entire process and saving the middlemen,” Sensorial Coffee Roasters was born, a specialty coffee firm that ranges from the plantations to the coffee already in the cup. The statements are from Alfonso Galofré Alavedra, who directs the new company from Barcelona and is the person responsible for coordinating the different companies that make up the brand. These are Barcelona Coffee Company (Baco), Delsams Torrefacció Artesana de Cafés and Napptilus Tech Labs.

Baco, belonging to Santuario Project, is in charge of importing green coffee to Europe, the Middle East and Asia from the plantations that Santuario Project manages in Colombia, Brazil, El Salvador, Mexico, Costa Rica and Ethiopia. “In 1998 I set out to design and create the coffee farm of the future, with old varieties, but with modern technology and plantations adapted to climate change,” explains Camilo Merizalde, owner of the group and one of the ideologues of Sensorial.

The Balaguer Delsams company Torrefacció Artesana de Cafés is in charge of roasting the coffee from the Santuario Project farms. Finally, the Barcelona startup Napptilus Tech Labs has taken care of the most technological and digital aspects related to the new brand.

As a result of the union of these three companies, coffee lovers can enjoy a new brand of specialty coffee, both by purchasing it comfortably from home through the firm's website or by going to the store that Sensorial has opened on the street Llull 199 of Barcelona. Galofré advances that they are “creating the infrastructure to also sell to companies, not only to the final consumer” and that they plan to open another physical store in Barcelona and one or two in Madrid. By 2025, they plan to expand to France and Portugal. Currently, they are closing an investment round of half a million euros.
