The startup that brings order among so much law

Artificial intelligence is behind more and more startups. This is the case of Maite.ai, a Barcelona startup born precisely from the desire to find a need that could be solved thanks to this technological advance. “We knew the legaltech sector and saw in the evolution of generative artificial intelligence an opportunity to automate many of the daily tasks of legal professionals,” explains Alejandro Castellano Sans, who already had previous experience as an entrepreneur. Castellano began this new business adventure together with Álex Rodríguez Ruibal, with whom he signed David Garcia Lancharro as a partner with a more technological profile.

The three entrepreneurs launched a first version of Maite.ai in October 2023 and, after the initial good reception, they were established as a company at the beginning of this year. “We are the first co-pilot for legal professionals in our country,” says Castellanos. The tool has been trained on vast databases of legal documents, case law and related literature. Its function is to help lawyers, paralegals or any other professional in the legal field to respond to specific legal queries based on all the legal information learned. In this way, legal professionals can focus on strategic aspects and direct interaction with clients.

To demonstrate that Maite.ai is really capable of bringing order to so much law, the co-founders have subjected the tool to the judicial career access tests. “It can be said that Maite.ai knows as much as any judge,” says Castellanos. More than 400 lawyers already use this solution, which has a free version and a paid version through a monthly subscription of 100 euros. The co-founders have set their goals to reach a thousand paying users by the end of this year and close the year with a turnover of half a million euros.
