The latest big news from Mercedes-AMG is not a supercar

By the end of this decade, the firm with the three-pointed star aspires to become a fully electric brand. While pursuing the strategic objective of being "electric only", the historic German manufacturer is currently fulfilling the different stages of its plan for its transformation towards an emission-free future.

The company aims to introduce innovative mobility solutions that contribute significantly to improving the quality of life in cities. And for emission-free mobility in the so-called "last mile", their solution is called the Mercedes-AMG e-Scooter. Its managers affirm that this electric scooter, which is about to go on the market, differs from others because it combines performance, exceptional range and safety with high-quality components and the sporty elegance characteristic of the brand.

In addition, the Mercedes-AMG e-Scooter has a folding system that is done simply and intuitively. It easily fits in the trunk of a car, and its low weight (only 14.7 kilos) allows it to be carried comfortably on public transport. For all these reasons, it is especially suitable for short trips around the city or even for longer distances in combination with other means of transport, public or private.

Created in cooperation with the Swiss micromobility specialist Micro Mobility Systems AG, the E-Scooter is equipped with a 500-watt electric motor with which the scooter from Mercedes-AMG – in a rich and elegant matt black color – quickly accelerates up to 20 km /h. Instead of a thumb throttle like most e-scooters, it features a twist handle, which can be operated more intuitively and precisely to ensure even more riding fun.

The powerful 9.6 Ah battery allows a range of up to 40 kilometers, ideal for example for the last stretch in urban traffic. But in addition to the range, which is reduced to 25 km if you opt for the maximum performance of the Sport program, the attention of the technicians has been focused on safety: thanks to a wide platform with anti-slip coating, a firm and safe position is guaranteed on both feet. The brand's signature AMG diamonds further enhance the look of the running board, while robust 20 cm diameter rubber wheels as well as individually adjustable front and rear suspension allow the user to navigate effortlessly over uneven terrain.

Likewise, thanks to the ergonomically shaped handlebar with telescopic function, the e-scooter from Mercedes can be individually adjusted to any size and body size. The AMG logo adorns the handlebars on both the left and right, while the centrally located display provides information on speed, charge status and riding mode. The Mercedes star below the front light completes the design.

The Mercedes-AMG e-Scooter comes to a stop thanks to an electric motor brake on the twist grip, with a drum brake at the rear or with a foot brake on the fender. Rotating the grip forward activates the braking kinetic recuperation system and at the same time recharges the battery. The lights on the front and rear and the reflectors on the sides make it possible even to drive in complete darkness with more than optimal night visibility.

A particularly useful additional feature of the Mercedes-AMG e-Scooter is the connectivity to the Micro app. The scooter uses Bluetooth to connect to a smartphone - which can be placed on the handlebars in a special holder - and provides the driver with various information: the distance travelled, the travel time and other data about the battery. The integrated navigation system also shows the shortest route to the destination on the screen. In addition, various functions such as the lights or the riding mode of the e-scooter can be controlled directly via the app.
