The iconic Lambretta also switches to electric mobility

The transport industry is investing efforts and resources in converting the mobility of the future into a more sustainable and efficient sector. Traditional brands are also betting on electrification, maintaining the essence that has led them to last until today. One of the latest to do so is the famous motorcycling brand Lambretta, which has just revealed its vision of the electric future.

The firm has taken advantage of the recent edition of the EICMA in Milan (international exhibition dedicated to motorcycles, bicycles and accessories) to present its new Elettra scooter, a world premiere, an electrified transport solution perfect for today's urban mobility.

It is worth remembering that the company was founded in 1946 and its products became authentic cult vehicles on our continent between the 50s and 60s of the last century. After several decades of accumulating success, in 1971 it stopped producing scooters internationally and was resurrected in 2017 by Innocenti S.A., based in Switzerland. After this long history, there are many followers of the brand's models, which continue to provoke enthusiasm and nostalgia at the same time.

From an aesthetic point of view, the new Lambretta Elettra evolves the design of its predecessors, revealing sharp and defined lines on the front. The elegant e-scooter wants to pay tribute to the Lambretta name by borrowing its iconic design elements and combining them with the latest technology. Its objective is to provide users with an emission-free alternative to explore the city and with a clear retro inspiration.

With refined shapes and more balanced rear volumes, it is built on a cast aluminum and steel chassis, and an aluminum swingarm. The LED lighting stands out, providing a futuristic aesthetic to the e-scooter, with original details such as a T-shaped handlebar with integrated turn signals, a hexagonal front light and a blue lighting strip that surrounds the body and makes it clearly visible.

The padded seat and wheels share the same blue color, giving a sense of unity to the design. The hydraulic rear automatically opens upwards to reveal the mechanics, the battery and offer some storage space. The general lightness should not be overlooked, since it weighs only 135 kg.

It is powered by a synchronous electric motor capable of generating 11 kW or 15 HP at maximum power. It reaches a maximum speed of 110 km/h with a torque of 258 Nm. These figures surpass numerous e-scooters currently available on the market.

The electric motor is powered by a 4.6 kWh lithium battery. The full charge time is about 5 hours and 30 minutes on a 220 V outlet and just 35 minutes to go from 20% to 80% if plugged into a fast charging station. At an average speed of 40 km/h, the vehicle offers a range of close to 130 km with expensive charging.

The Elettra presented is still a concept version, although the production version will have three driving modes (Eco, Ride and Sport) to offer an adaptive driving experience. Depending on the mode selected, the autonomy will vary, meeting the diverse needs of urban drivers.

While the price and release date are still unknown, the new Lambretta has already passed the testing phase and will soon join the brand's existing scooter range. In the video that accompanies this article you can enjoy the presentation of the vehicle at the EICMA.
