The five best accounts without commissions, without payroll, or requirements

Banks often require requirements not to charge commissions to their customers. This link can range from direct deposit of a payroll or any other periodic income, to contracting additional products from the same entity.

“When some of the required conditions are not met, the commissions can go up to 240 euros per year. Reason enough to change banks or, at least, change to another type of account”, explain the experts of the financial comparator HelpMyCash.

Fortunately, practically all entities have an account -in all cases of 100% online operations- that do not ask for anything at all to avoid paying these costs.

HelpMyCash has compiled a ranking with the five best commission-free accounts of the moment.

One of the most popular is the ING Account No Account. It can be contracted without having to domicile any income and includes a free virtual debit card that can be used from the moment it is opened.

In addition, it has an associated savings account that offers a remuneration of 0.85% APR. And if you want more profitability, with the Cuenta NoCuenta you can open the welcome deposit at 2.50% APR for 3 months. Unlike the other accounts below, it's the only one that's not just for new customers.

Another account without commissions or requirements that is also linked to a savings account that offers a 2.5% APR return of up to 30,000 euros is the EVO Smart Account. The entity will pay this interest until July 31, 2024 and allows a maximum of 750 euros of benefits to be earned in one year.

“With such a wide offer in the market, it is best to diversify your savings. You can have the payroll in an account in which they offer us a gift for taking it, and have another part of the money in accounts in which they do not ask us for any type of requirement, but that give us other benefits such as some profitability ”, they advise from the comparator.

Taking into account the advice of experts, an interesting option is the Sabadell Online Account, which, in addition to not asking for any conditions to avoid paying commissions, offers a return of 2.50% APR during the first year.

But, in addition, those who direct their salary into this account will receive an extra 200 euros. So you can earn 950 euros of interest in the first 12 months.

And that's not all, it has launched a promotion in which it returns 3% of all purchases made until September 30.

Santander and Abanca have also opted to offer profitability and cash gifts with their commission-free online accounts.

While the Santander Online Account pays 150 euros to those who deposit a recurring income of more than 600 euros (and raises it to 350 euros if the amount is over 2,500 euros); The Clara Abanca Account pays an extra 300 euros to those clients who have a salary or pension of more than 1,200 euros.

In addition, the Galician entity offers a 2% APR return of up to 15,000 euros during the first year. Of course, only if you have an income.

Even so, the online accounts of Sabadell, Santander and Abanca do not charge commissions, even if you do not want to direct debit anything. They are one more option to distribute the money.

“What we do have to take into account is that, in most cases, when a gift such as cash for domiciling an income is accepted, it implies some kind of link. Normally, a stay of a certain time with the bank. So it is very important to read the fine print of all these promotions ”, they conclude from HelpMyCash.
