The Ferrari Enzo that Fernando Alonso puts up for sale and is almost new

The vast majority of the Formula 1 drivers who have had the privilege of being part of the legendary Scuderia de Maranello are or have owned some “street” model from the Cavallino firm.

There are illustrious examples, true masters of the wheel, such as Alain Prost, Gerhard Berger, Kimi Räikkönen or Michael Schumacher, who also participated in the development of the Ferrari Enzo. And it is also the case of Fernando Alonso, who was a Ferrari driver for five seasons -from 2010 to 2014- and who still owns a Ferrari Enzo.

And we still say because the Asturian driver, now in Aston Martin F1, is going to auction his precious Italian model on Thursday, June 8 in Monaco, in a sale organized by the Monaco Car Auctions company, at the Grimaldi Forum.

But the Enzo de Alonso will not be the only model that is put up for sale. The exclusive auction will also feature, among others, a 208 GTB, a 208 GTS, a Testarossa, an SF90 or an authentic collector's item such as the 1956 250 GT Boano, the first mass-produced Ferrari.

“I am happy to announce that I will put my number 1 Enzo up for sale in Monaco. I hope the new owner of this unique piece enjoys it”, Alonso posted on Instagram. It is not, therefore, any unit, but the one with the number 1 on the chassis.

This very special Enzo, whose price could exceed 3 million euros, is in an extraordinary state of preservation, with 4,800 real km since the pilot acquired it when he was a pilot for the brand. The date of purchase is unknown, although the Spanish registration with the letters HGZ corresponds to 2011.

Only 400 units of the Ferrari Enzo were manufactured between 2002 and 2004. Initially, a limited production of 349 units was thought of, but the demand for such a special model -belongs to the saga of the 288 GTO, F40 and F50 models- made the brand will reach 400 units.

In 2015, at a Sotheby's auction for the benefit of those affected by Hurricane Katrina, it reached 5.6 million euros.

In any case, the Enzo, which is also known as the F60, is a high-performance supercar that was intended for wealthy Ferrari model owners; Specifically, the ownership of at least two other Ferraris had to be proven.

With an impressive center-rear V12 engine, placed longitudinally, it offered 660 HP of power and a maximum speed of 350 km/h. Light and with a highly tuned chassis, it was capable of accelerating from 0 to 200 km/h in 9.5 seconds.

Among the famous owners of an Enzo are Eric Clapton, Jason Kay, Joe Cole, Nick Mason, Nicolas Cage, Tommy Hilfiger, Rod Stewart, Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Pope John Paul II (who auctioned it off for charity). By the way, when Ibrahimovic signed for Barcelona in 2009, he came from Milan driving his Enzo. And he arrived with a blown clutch.
