Sesé invests 12 million in a new logistics center in Barcelona

The Aragonese company Sesé increases its presence in Catalonia with the acquisition, now closed, of a 25,000 square meter plot of land in the Barcelona town of Palafolls, in the Maresme region, for the installation of a new multimodal logistics center that will employ a hundred of people.

The firm, specialized in comprehensive supply chain management, announced a total investment of 12 million euros in these new facilities, which are expected to be completed in the second half of 2024 to begin operating from this enclave.

As reported this Wednesday by the company itself, the project includes the construction of the multimodal logistics center for the reception of goods, in addition to carrying out customs procedures and preparing for their shipment. From these facilities, quality control and subsequent shipment of merchandise to clients of both national and international origin will also be carried out.

Likewise, the company plans to have a point regulating entry flows in the logistics warehouse under customs regulations for imported goods, which will speed up the unloading process of maritime containers from the port of Barcelona.

The logistics part will be complemented by other actions such as the opening of a training center managed by the Sesé Foundation, which was created in 2013 to promote job placement. In this specific case, its purpose will be to offer people with disabilities or at risk of exclusion a series of courses and activities related to the supply chain to facilitate their employability.

Headquartered in Zaragoza, Sesé manages a total of more than 2.5 million square meters distributed among the 73 centers and warehouses it has spread across 20 countries in Europe, America, Africa and Asia and has a team of more than 11,000 people on its payroll. . In Catalonia it already has a logistics center in Abrera and a warehouse in Palau-solità i Plegamans that previously served as a Yamaha plant.

The company is going through a sweet moment. After a 2022 marked by the growth of its business and the commitment to new projects, Sesé obtained record results during the first six months of this year, with a turnover of 510 million euros - 22% more compared to the same period in 2022 - and an operating profit of 27 million, 5.5% of total sales in the first half of this year.

“The commitment to the development of new businesses, diversification, integration of services, as well as a wide and growing geographic footprint at an international level, have allowed us to consolidate Sesé's business model as a comprehensive supply chain manager,” they noted. in June when presenting these results.
