Mitsubishi presents the new Colt: it looks like a well-known model

Mitsubishi has introduced the new Colt, which will go on sale in October. The seventh generation of this compact model is built on the CMF-B platform of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance and is manufactured at Renault's plant in Burca (Turkey). The car's resemblance to the popular French utility Clio is unquestionable (as is the ASX's to the Captur). It is what you have to take advantage of the synergies offered by belonging to the same automobile group or forming agreements between companies. We already saw it years ago with the small urban Citroën C1, Peugeot 107 and Toyota Aygo or more recently with the Suzuki Across and the Toyota RAV 4. But there are many more cases of this type.

"Following the launch of the new ASX in March, the Colt marks the return of Mitsubishi Motors to the core compact car segment in Europe, as well as the return of a flagship model for our brand," said Frank Krol, president and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Europe.

The profile is almost indistinguishable from the Clio. It is in the front where it presents differentiating features, especially in the larger grill. The rear, which also sports different elements, displays the brand name across the entire width of the tailgate. Depending on the chosen finish (Spirit, Motion, Kaiteki or Kaiteki), the car presents subtle changes between versions on the exterior that affect the mirrors, the spoiler, the lower protectors or the different options of 15, 16 or 17-inch wheels.

The brand offers a range of accessories so that owners can further tailor the car to their specific needs. For example, they can choose the retractable tow ball, the luggage box or the reversible boot lining.

Inside, it is almost the same as the new Clio, with which it shares the digital instrumentation (with a 7-inch screen as standard and a 10-inch screen as an option) and the central 10-inch touch screen, which gives access to an infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The mechanical offer of the new Colt consists of three alternatives. The access to the range is a 1.0 three-cylinder gasoline block that develops 65 CV and is associated with a five-speed manual transmission. Above is the 90 hp turbocharged variant with a six-speed manual transmission. And, finally, the hybrid version 160 HEV of 145 CV.

The model comes equipped with a wide range of driving aids. Thus, it mounts ultrasonic, camera and radar sensors that offer a 360° vision and provide a complete set of ADAS systems that help maintain security.
