Lampsy, the very expensive Spanish luxury electric scooter that costs more than 13,000 euros

The Mobile World Congress is a benchmark fair in the field of technology, which goes far beyond technology. There are more and more varied companies that choose this international event to show their innovations. And there are also in the mobility sector. Hence, in this edition, which is held until March 2, a Hyperloop prototype capable of connecting Barcelona and Paris in just one hour has been seen, as well as other novelties related to one of the vehicles that has had the most boom in urban commuting: the electric scooter.

For example, Xiaomi has presented its Electric Scooter 4 Ultra, which improves power (940 W) and autonomy (reaches 70 km) to the models currently on sale. Its price will be around a thousand euros. While this is a significant amount, it can be considered a real bargain when compared to the starting fee for the scooter on display at the Lampsy stand: €13,800, excluding tax and extras (image analysis costs an additional €900 and wood finish 600 euros).

Undoubtedly, it is a high amount that is even higher than what the entry-level version of a utility car can cost, such as the Hyundai i10, whose starting price at the time of writing this article was 12,430 euros. .

But what does this very expensive electric scooter of Spanish origin offer to cost so much? According to the manufacturing company, Lampsy Personal Mobility, it is a clean, sustainable, exclusive, different vehicle and, most importantly, with a high dose of technology. So much so that it is equipped with a sophisticated driving aid system to prevent accidents. It has three screens, a central 4.3-inch screen and another two 2.5-inch screens that function as digital rear-view mirrors. Various integrated cameras are part of an artificial intelligence system that is capable of alerting the user to possible dangerous situations.

The technological endowment is completed with front, rear and side led lights, speakers, GPS and an authentication system based on an encrypted key or biometric unlocking (with the face or a fingerprint). Many of the vehicle's functions can be controlled remotely from a downloadable mobile application.

On a mechanical level, the Lampsy is powered by a 1,500 W motor, powered by electrical energy stored in a 21,000 mAh battery that fully recharges in about seven hours. The data offered by the manufacturer indicates that this personal mobility vehicle has a range of around 100 kilometers, holds up to 130 kilos of weight and can reach a top of 45 km/h, a speed that depending on the country would be self-limiting. So in Spain it would be 25 km/h; Any higher figure would not comply with VMP regulations and, therefore, would be considered a moped, with the requirements that this entails.

This model, with a patented suspension system and hydraulic braking, has three driving modes that modify some parameters with the aim of favoring efficiency (Eco), comfort (Normal) or dynamism (Sport).

Lampsy Personal Mobility, S. L. was founded by José Luis Pérez Baeza in 2019 in Barcelona. This company designs and manufactures its products in Europe. The sophisticated scooter that has been presented at this year's Mobile World Congress is not yet for sale. It can be pre-booked, upon payment of 250 refundable euros, but deliveries will not take place until July 2024.
