Folgarolas relocates textile production with a new factory

Folgarolas, a company dedicated to the manufacture of fabric for the fashion sector based in Terrassa, has invested two million euros to expand its factory and relocate its production. After the great industrial relocation of recent decades, the Catalan textile sector "has become very small", comments Pepe García Balagué, general director of Folgarolas. The pandemic -he continues- demonstrated the need "to maintain the local industrial fabric", for which the company, in the hands of the fourth family generation, proposed to concentrate all production in Terrassa. “Before the covid we manufactured 65% locally and 35% in Turkey; now we can assume 100% of our production here and even manufacture more”, affirms García Balagué.

Of the two million euros of investment, the Generalitat has subsidized 235,100 euros under a reindustrialization aid program – the Minister of Business and Labor, Roger Torrent, officially inaugurated the new factory a few days ago. The expansion has also led to the hiring of seven new workers. In total, Folgarolas employs around twenty people and has a turnover of six million euros.

The company purchases yarn from mostly European suppliers, designs the fabric in terms of structure and composition, and then manufactures it at its facilities. The dyeing and subsequent finishing are subcontracted to local suppliers –mainly from Castellar del Vallès and Monistrol de Montserrat–. His clients include fashion brands such as Massimo Dutti, El Ganso, Bimba
