Beyond this, sometimes we barely have reaction time or room for maneuver. It is then when we have to resort to emergency braking. Now, it is important to know how to do it correctly to avoid losing control of the vehicle.
Last May, the Twitter account @ClubRACC, of the Royal Automobile Club of Catalonia, shared a video where the keys to learning how to perform emergency braking like a professional are given, safely and safely. At the wheel, Salva Navarro, a trainer at the Advanced Driving Center, is in charge of demonstrating how to carry out emergency braking in a manual car.
To begin with, "it is important that we step quickly and violently on the brake and clutch." Stepping on the clutch together with the brake is important, as the clutch will make us stop sooner. How to dodge the object in question? This is where the great advantage of ABS lies, the anti-lock wheel system that prevents the tires from slipping or locking during braking. "ABS allows you to continue braking violently and to be able to move the steering wheel," explains Navarro.
Of course, although the brake and clutch must be stepped on abruptly, the opposite occurs with turning the steering wheel. Avoid drastic swerves that increase the risk of losing control of the car. Instead, you have to turn the steering wheel slightly, either left or right, to avoid the obstacle. If we follow these steps and remain calm and quiet, the car will stop without any problem.
