The latest data provided by the National Institute of Statistics -prepared during the year 2020- corroborate that the number of people in Spain who suffer from depression stands at 2.1 million, which represents 5.25% of the population over 15 years. Another study, this time published in 2021 by Fundamed, the Foundation for Medicines and Health Products Sciences, reveals that "almost three million people have been diagnosed with depression in Spain, which has become one of the most common problems in our country". For some analysts and experts in the field, the effects of the health crisis caused by the coronavirus have had a significant impact on the psychological stability of Spaniards. Not only because of its direct consequences, but also because of those derived from home confinement, which translated into an increase in the percentage of the population that experienced a feeling of being down or depressed.
