Dario Acquaroli, MTB world champion, dies

The cycling world is in mourning. Especially Italian cycling. The former professional cyclist Dario Acquaroli (1975-2023) died last Easter Sunday from a heart attack that occurred while riding a bicycle.

Acquaroli, who dedicated his career to MTB, was found unconscious by some cyclists in the middle of the mountain and despite calling for medical assistance immediately, not even the intervention of a rescue helicopter could save him.

Today the funeral was held in his native Bergamo and, in addition to family and friends, hundreds of cyclists wanted to come over to say a last goodbye to the man who was one day cross-country world champion in 1996.

This is how one of the Italian MTB legends leaves, suddenly and with still a life ahead of him. She was 47 years old. The ironies of her fate saw fit to put an end to her story while she pedaled along some dirt tracks that she had traveled so much and enjoyed. Rest in peace Darius.
