Dacia's cheap accessory to transform the car into a sleeping camper

It is increasingly common to see cars transformed into a kind of camper that allows you to enjoy small getaways; yes, without the comforts offered by larger vehicles and, of course, motorhomes. Thinking of those looking for the most basic to be able to spend the night in the vehicle, Dacia has launched the so-called Sleep pack, the first accessory in the new range of Dacia InNature accessories.

Available for the Jogger family model -regardless of its age-, this equipment transforms the passenger compartment of the model into a bedroom in a matter of minutes. In addition, it has a tray and a storage compartment. It is a removable accessory, which weighs less than 50 kilos including the mattress. For its installation in the seven-seater versions, it is necessary to remove the two removable seats in the third row (this operation does not have to be done in the variant approved for five occupants).

The resulting bed is 190 cm long and up to 130 cm wide at the height of the rear doors thanks to sliding ridges. The distance to the ceiling, of at least 60 cm, offers a generous space. When the cot is not in use, the frame folds down. In any case, the wooden box allows access at all times to the storage area (220 litres).

The customer can purchase Pack Sleep at the time they place an order for a new Jogger, for an amount of 1,500 euros, or later by ordering the storage boxes and the mattress separately (on sale from May).

Simple and ingenious, this wooden accessory will complete the camping equipment that many users already have (fridge or stove, for example) and do not want to buy twice. Additionally, there are two other accessories available to complete the Sleep InNature Dacia pack. On the one hand, the opaque blinds for all the windows that guarantee darkness and privacy (€200). On the other, an outdoor tent that can be attached to the back of the Jogger when the tailgate is open, thus offering a more spacious nomadic shelter (€380).

The Dacia Jogger is a car with a robust and athletic appearance, which mixes the length of a estate, the versatility of a combi and the attributes of an SUV. Until recently it was only available with two mechanical versions, one 110 TCe gasoline, with 110 HP and a 6-speed manual gearbox, and another 100 ECO-G, adapted to run on LPG (liquefied petroleum gas).

Currently it can also be purchased with a 140 hp hybrid powertrain. It combines a 91 CV, four-cylinder 1.6 thermal block with two electric motors – one with 49 CV, which also moves the wheels, and another with 20 CV that acts as a starter motor and current generator.

With this scheme, the Jogger Hybrid starts its journey systematically in electric mode, offers extended acceleration thanks to electric assistance and enjoys particularly optimized energy efficiency thanks to its clutchless automatic gearbox and its efficient regenerative braking system, with a high recharging capacity of the battery.
