Electric cars are rapidly making their way into the motor fleet in Spain. It is becoming less and less rare to see vehicles powered by electric batteries on the roads. The restrictions on circulation that are made in large cities mean that these types of cars are one of the few that can circulate without problems.
The brand par excellence of electric cars is the American Tesla, whose owner is Elon Musk. Vehicles such as the Tesla Model, which is the firm's flagship, are seen in every corner of the country, with several models available.
However, although electric cars are more common than years ago, the installation of charging points is far behind. Currently in Spain there are just over 15,000 installed throughout the peninsula, with the vast majority in Madrid and Barcelona.
This situation means that on many occasions, due to the crowds that occur on certain dates, owners have to wait in long queues to be able to recharge their vehicles. During Holy Week, several images of lines lasting up to two hours went viral.
For the May long weekend, the American brand opted for a double solution at the La Gineta charging point, the place from where you take the road to go to Valencia. The first is to place an operator to order the cars, and the second is to provide a voucher that can be exchanged at the nearest bar for a bottle of water, a coffee or a soft drink.
This situation has been criticized on Twitter by the user @LaVerdadDeTesla. In a tweet he published two photos: one with the long waiting line to recharge the vehicles, and another with the voucher offered by the brand to be able to have something at the restaurant. “How fun it is to travel by electric car,” the tweet ironically points out.
