Barcelona, ​​the only Catalan province that created jobs in October

Catalonia closed October with more affiliation and more unemployment. The autonomy registered 11,882 new members in the tenth month of the year. Unemployment was also on the rise, with just under 4,300 unemployed, according to data from the ministries of Social Security and Labor released this Friday.

Regarding affiliation, the month closed with 3.71 million workers, the fourth highest record in the historical series behind May, June and July of this year.

The generation of employment was concentrated entirely in Barcelona, ​​which added 26,472 affiliates. In the rest of the provinces the situation was negative: Girona destroyed 7,211 jobs, Lleida 5,553 and Tarragona another 1,825.

Regarding unemployment figures, the total number of unemployed remains at 339,693 unemployed. It is the lowest figure for a tenth month of the year since 2007. Unemployment rose by 4,261 people in October, to 339,693 unemployed.

In absolute terms, Catalonia has been the third autonomous community that has contributed the most unemployed to the State as a whole, behind Andalusia (7,401) and Castilla-La Mancha (4,261). During October, Madrid was the only community in which the number of unemployed has decreased, by 190. Compared to last year, unemployment is 2.39% lower, with 8,303 fewer people unemployed.

By province, unemployment is growing the most in absolute terms in Barcelona, ​​with 2,474 people, but it is where it is growing the least in percentage terms (0.99%). Lleida, with its 495 more unemployed, sees unemployment grow by almost 3%, compared to 2% in Girona (587) or 1.8% in Tarragona with its 705 more unemployed.

By sectors, the majority of the new unemployed correspond to the services sector (3,159 more unemployed), followed by industry (313), agriculture (182) and construction (313). Up to 574 people have signed up on the SOC lists without having a previous job.
