FC Barcelona and the Barcelona City Council have presented this Friday the mobility plan for the days that the Barça team play their matches at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium as a result of the remodeling of the Camp Nou and which represents a total investment of 5,899,100 euro.

Of this amount, the Catalan club will assume 56%, while the Barcelona City Council will take care of the remaining 44%. The plan reinforces public transport, is committed to sustainable mobility and measures extraordinary maintenance and security services to guarantee the least possible impact of the move from Barça to Montjuïc.

This plan has been outlined today by the director of the Sustainability Area of FC Barcelona, Jordi Portabella, and Xavier Patón, manager of the Mobility, Infrastructures and Urban Services Area of the Catalan capital city council.

Both have explained that the device seeks to facilitate access to the stadium on foot, by public transport or by bicycle or electric scooter and to restrict the use of private motorized vehicles as much as possible, especially the car.

In this sense, only 1,500 cars will be able to access Montjuïc on match days. And they will be those that are specially accredited for the event and those driven by people with reduced mobility.

The plan also provides for two car parks within the Olympic ring for a total of 3,500 motorcycles - "everyone knows that Barcelona is a biker city," recalled Patón - and the arrival of some 70 supporters' club buses and up to a thousand taxis.

The rest of the fans who want to attend the matches of the Barça team will have to travel by public transport (bus or metro) or leave their car in one of the four car parks located on the perimeter of the mountain, the largest of which is located on the Fira 2, with capacity for 3,500 seats.

From that point, they must travel to the Lluís Companys on foot, using the Montjüic Funicular or taking the shuttle buses, located in Plaza España and in the Fira 2 car park and which are free for fans who have purchased a ticket for the match.

In total, the mobility plan has 17 shuttles that will leave at intervals of between 3 and 4 minutes from two hours before the meeting -three hours before access to the mountain with a private vehicle will be restricted- and with a capacity each of its two lines to transport 4,400 people per hour.

The funicular, which will run every 5 minutes, has a capacity of 4,800 people per hour, and the escalators located on Avenida de María Cristina for those who prefer to access Montjuïc on foot can absorb up to 8,000 people per hour, double if both are placed in the same direction.

On the days that Barça plays, the Olympic Stadium will have a capacity for 49,472 spectators, counting the locations with reduced visibility. And the club and the city council estimate that approximately 60% of those fans will go to the stadium on foot, by bicycle or by scooter; 30% using the shuttles or the funicular and the remaining 10% by car or motorcycle.

At the same time, the Barcelona City Council is carrying out various actions to improve accessibility on foot, renewing the pavement and increasing the lighting points on the mountain.

"In addition to improving access and increasing and improving lighting, we will also reinforce the police force of the Urban Guard and the Mossos d'Esquadra. We want movement in the mountains, especially on foot, to be safe: before, during and after the matches. And logically keep all these improvements for the rest of the events that the city celebrates in the Olympic ring", explained Xavi Patón.

Jordi Portabella has been convinced that the mobility plan will be a success, but has asked fans "to come early" so that access to Montjuïc is staggered and they can also enjoy "magnificent surroundings" and the recreational activities that the club will organize prior to each meeting.

"We want to offer well-being to all the members who have purchased a season pass and make it a really comfortable experience for all the fans", stressed Portabella, who has guaranteed the evacuation "in less than an hour" of all the followers who go to the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium to see Barça.
