A self-driving car runs over a woman who had been hit by a driver

The use of autonomous cars as taxis is becoming increasingly widespread in the United States, but this sometimes leads to accidents such as that of a woman in San Francisco who ended up trapped under one of these vehicles after being run over.

The victim had previously been run over by a human driver with the bad luck of ending up on the road, being later crushed by an autonomous taxi and unable to get out from under the car.

This has been explained by the San Francisco police, who have reported that the human driver fled the scene of the accident, leaving the injured woman in the path of the robotaxi that would end up crashing into her.

As explained by the autonomous car company, the automatic taxi did everything possible to brake and avoid it, but due to little room for maneuver it ended up on top of the affected woman.

The firefighters then arrived to remove the woman, who had to be removed from under the autonomous car using a type of crane that managed to lift the robotaxi.

The woman is now hospitalized and stable despite having suffered significant injuries, but her accident has once again reopened the debate about responsibility for these cases with self-driving cars.
