Zombies invade the Condal theater

It all started with George A. Romero. In 1968, perhaps the New York director was not aware that with his film Night of the Living Dead he was shining a light on the zombie subgenre, which has proven to be so productive in the last half century.

Now, in a theatrical version by Daniel Anglès, Night of the Living Dead arrives at the Condal Theater in Barcelona. Live!, an adaptation that goes far beyond the film.

Daniel Anglès, director of the Condal theater and author of the adaptation, gives more details: "The first part explains the story of the film. But there are always moments in which the characters make decisions that we know they should not have to make. From That's why we propose five different endings."

Focus co-produced this show in London, but Anglès has given it a few spins and now presents a new adaptation, which premiered this Friday. "We liked the London production, but we thought we wanted the audience to have more participation, to be more immersive, to make the audience feel like they were in the story."

With a budget of half a million euros, the Condal production has added light, sound and liquid effects, which splash blood on the spectators in the first rows.

"The sound effects are all over the room, like in the best movie theaters," adds Roger Julià, director of Night of the Living Dead. Live! "There is a lot of work to be able to work with so much blood." Julià comes from the world of clowning and ensures a lot of humor in this theatrical madness.

In addition, premium spectators will enter the Condal theater through a side door, but to access their seats they will have to go through a tunnel of terror, the Scary Tour.

With music by Oriol Padrós, La noche de los muertos vivientes. Live! on stage with Víctor G. Casademunt, Roger Julià, Mercè Martínez, Malcolm McCarthy, Alexia Pascual, Jordi Soriano, Miriam Tortosa and Nesa Vidaurrázaga.
