Works in Rambla Catalunya to renew the road

This morning work began to renew the pavement of Rambla de Catalunya between Diagonal and Ronda Universitat. This weekend the work will be carried out on the lane on the Llobregat side, next weekend the intersections will be renewed and on Saturday and Sunday the 25th and 26th the pavement on the Besós side will be replaced.

The remodeling, which includes all the horizontal signage, is part of the Comprehensive Maintenance Plan framed in the Endreça Plan. The first deputy mayor and councilor for Urban Planning, Laia Bonet, has insisted on the importance of acting before the elements that make up public space deteriorate. “Although specific actions had been carried out, complete intervention had not been carried out on Rambla Catalunya since 2009,” Bonet points out.

The works will affect the service cordon today but one traffic lane will be maintained. Tomorrow, starting at nine o'clock, traffic will be cut off on Rambla de Catalunya between Diagonal and Gran Via while the work to change the asphalt is carried out. Even so, the passage of the neighborhood or services will be maintained and it will be possible to circulate on the cross streets.

In the second phase, from May 25 to 26, the road on the Besós side will be modified. On Saturday the service cordon will be occupied, the traffic lane will be maintained and preliminary work will be carried out without affecting circulation in the section between Gran Via and the Universitat ring road. Likewise, traffic will be cut off on Sunday.

During this year it is also planned to renew the pavement on roads and spaces such as Diagonal, Tetuán square, Sants and Creu Coberta streets, the Zona Franca promenade or Lesseps square. Laia Bonet estimates that all the actions that will be carried out will cost 28.9 million euros and 600,000 m² will be renovated until 2028. In case of rain, the works will be suspended and rescheduled.
